Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Gunners-owned central defender Daniel Ballard for Northern Ireland.
What’s the story?
Ballard, on loan at Millwall from Arsenal, was in action for Northern Ireland last night.
The 21-year-old, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, started for Northern Ireland in their 4-1 win against Lithuania last night.
The Arsenal-owned defender scored in the 20th minute of the game and was brilliant at the back.
Ballard was part of a back-three for Northern Ireland and was deployed on the left.
The youngster had a pass accuracy of 85.4%, won two headers, took 69 touches, and made two tackles, two interceptions and seven clearances.
What are Arsenal fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Arsenal fans were impressed by Ballard’s performance last night.
Well, some of them anyway.
While some Arsenal supporters want manager Mikel Arteta to give the 21-year-old a chance when he is back from his loan spell next summer, others believe that he is already better than some of the defenders the Gunners have in their first-team squad at the moment.
Ballard has yet to make a competitive appearance in the Premier League and has been out on loan at Swindon Town and Blackpool.
The youngster joined Millwall on loan from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
