Will Smith turned 53!
Will Smith booked out the entire Regal Cinemas in Calabasas, Calif., to celebrate his 53rd birthday, nearly two weeks after his wife Jada Pinkett Smith erected an at-home roller rink to commemorate her 50th birthday.
“He had a pretty intimate gathering. He hired out the cinema for a hundred guests and they saw [his latest film] ‘King Richard’ while eating and drinking.”
Will’s celebration was more of a family affair than Jada’s, which included celebrities like Toni Braxton, MC Lyte, and Jordyn Woods. The entire Smith family was present, with the exception of the couple’s son, Jaden, who was reportedly in Europe. (Jaden recently made an appearance at London Fashion Week.)
According to our sources, cell phones were prohibited during Will’s party.
“He screened his movie, so that’s why there were no phones,” a source informed us, adding that the evening was “a blast.”
In “King Richard,” Oscar nominee Smith plays Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena Williams, as he prepares his daughters to become two of the best tennis players in the world.
“Before they were even born, I drafted me a 78-page blueprint for their entire career,” Smith, like Williams, states in the trailer.
“Richard Williams is a lot like my father,” Smith said in GQ magazine about the part. So, when I first read [the script], I knew what it was like to want your children to achieve.
I had experimented with it with my children. I realized how difficult it is to form a young mind, and how different it is with sons than it is with daughters.”
On November 19, the film will be released in theatres.
Jada celebrates Will Smith’s Birthday With An Artsy Photo Grid.
Jada Pinkett Smith, the actor’s wife, posted an artistic photo grid of her husband on Instagram on his birthday on Saturday.
Smith is sitting on a wooden bench in front of a colorful arch painted on the wall behind him in the grid, which is made up of 12 individual photos.
To complete the primary image, Pinkett Smith, 50, put a crown over her husband’s head that was reminiscent of Basquiat’s famed paintings.
Last week, the Red Table Talk co-host had a memorable night at a roller rink to celebrate her own milestone birthday. Jaden Smith, Trey Smith, Jordyn Woods, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Lauren London were among the guests who attended Pinkett Smith’s celebration.
